I just inherated a 2007 jaguar s type. It has no key I don't even no if it runs . They want 980$ for key but I don't want to spend that if the car is junk is there any way to start the car without spending a thousand dollars so I will no if it is worth putting the money into it

I doubt it.

Your USA market would have systems that require key recognition to activate the brains that work the car.

I suggest a re-ask in the S Type (X200) Tech Section, maybe I be wrong.

As Grant says, the key is coded to the vehicle. Members in S-Type forum will be able to suggest lower cost sources or options but that is likely only to be the start of your troubles. If the vehicle has not been run recently then dead battery and stale fuel are just two of the issues you will encounter. Unless you really want the vehicle and are prepared to spend what could be more than it's worth to get it running, then disposal is the sensible action.
