My garage door opener decided that it wanted to be able to open and stay open anytime that it felt like it and unplugging and then plugging it back in was the only way to get it to close.
I bought a new Genie 3/4 hp screw drive model and I love it. It has Homelink also.
I got into my Jag to set up the Homelink and it wouldn't take. I went online to Homelink and they even have you input what vehicle that you are setting up. I was doing it right! I tried a bunch of different ways of setting it up and none worked. I saw that this new model could also use the older Genie Intellicode remotes. So, on a whim, I went to my pick-up and took out the remote for the previous door. I held it up by the Homelink and pushed both buttons at the same time. In nothing flat, the Jag's Homelink system recognized the remote. I then went to the garage door opener motor and pressed the learn button and back to the car which now became programmed to the new opener.

Without this tip, I could not program my opener.

My working combo was:
1 - Clear all the Homelink Memory
2 - Clone the rolling Code factory remote
3 - Pair with garage opener

No idea why this is required? Maybe to set the frequency correct?
