Default How to Save a Wood Dash

My recently purchased XK8 that has a magnetic phone mount stuck to the wood dash. Unbelievable. This lady took such unbelievable care of this care for 15 years, and she stuck a $3 college phone mount on the dash! Argh! I have searched the forum looking for a way to get this off without marring the dash, but haven't been able to find anything. I would greatly appreciate some advice on getting this off without tearing up the dash. If I have to I will leave it on.

Default Fixed It!

Goo Gone, some Fishing line, and a piece terry cloth towel. I squirted on a little Goo Gone at the top of the mount and let run down the top and sides. Then I got some 20 lb fishing line and looped it around the underside of the mount, and just started pulling it tight. Just took a couple of minutes and it came off. I used the terry cloth and some Goo Gone to get the residual glue off. It looks great. I highly recommend this Goo Gone stuff.

A claw hammer and lots of pressure wouldve been faster. Theyre specifically made for woodwork.
