Default leaper removal

hi all, hoping for some info before i do this. travelling to Boston in a few days to stay with family. unfortunately, they don't live in the greatest of neighborhoods and rather than having my leaper stolen, i was planning to remove it before we leave. hate to do it, but i'd rather live wihtout it for a week than have to shell out for a new one. question is....Is it as simple as unscrewing it from under the hood and lifting it off and then just screwing it back on after? or is there some little "trick" I'm missing?

If the nuts are visible no problem ( a word of caution when reinstalling dont over tighten as they strip easily) A very good idea to remove as my xj6 no longer has its leaper and they messed the hood up as well.

got it off no problrem. had to buy a 24mm socket since of course...i owned up to 21mm. used the dental floss trick i learned on another thread to get the base off. i'm on my trip now and my leaper is sitting back home safe and sound. last question is..what should i use to establish a new seal between the base and the hood when i reinstall? or just tighten the bolt and don't worry about it?
