Need help
I got a 2012 jaguar xfr with 92k miles on it and when i got the car at 75k i would do burnouts and it would shift to 3rd gear during the burnout now it only goes on first gear and the motor dies down. Im gonna post a video of what im talking about does anyone know whats going on with it. It dosent feel like the transmission is slipping or anything like that but now it wont do a burnout like before.

Erobles, what you are experiencing could be the result of a few things. The big one I see is most likely you have bought a new set of rear tires. If the tires are more sticky, then you are putting more load on the drivetrain and that can cause you to not shift up to the higher gears like you could initially. part of it could be simply that while the tranny is not slipping during normal every day driving, it may be starting to show signs of damage from the burnouts. The last thing that I would say to look at is when the spark plugs were last changed out. It may be possible that you have plugs that are getting old and are not sparking quite like they used to. This can put you down on power a little bit. Along those lines, we are finding out that you can get some build up on the valves in the head and you may be getting a little bit of blow by now. There are some write ups on how to deal with that in the 5.0L engines.
Guy, if traction control was kicking in, his RPMs would not be going up to 6000 RPM. It would limit the RPMs to say around 3000 or less. The only exception would be if a high stall torque converter was installed. But, even then, I can't see the RPMs getting as high as they were.
You are absolutely right. Thanks for the prod.
Spark plugs though?? Stuffed cats? but I didn’t see the engine light and codes would have been thrown...
