Has anyone used the iCarsoft i930 on a 1999 XJ8 or a 1996 XJS?

Yes on my 1999 XJR it is the dedicated Jaguar/landrover one.I have just need to learn how to evaluate the information, also tried it on a friends X308 1998 which was playing up, the iCar did not return any DTC’s but was later diagnosed with misfire on No 8 plug. Changed out the coil and all go again. Unfortunately I did not have my other scan tool with me as I feel this would have returned the DTC.

I've looked at the Innova web site. I registered and was able to enter my codes under Jaguar and the definitions came right up. It's Free. I saved the site. I thought it was very helpful
Good Luck

I have been using the on iCarsoft i930 code scanner our 2001 XJ8. Purchased it in 1/5/2015 $120.00 special price - was on Ebay for $139.95

I used it a lot of times in 2015 thru 2016. Mostly to remove error codes especially ones that limited speed down to 15 mph (restricted performace)..

As I remember it is able to read the ABS brake system pretty well.
I have not tried to update the software for a long time.

No issues with 2001 XJ8 since end of 2016, Thank goodness, but I do have the code scanner in the boot.

My iCarsoft i930 was purchased for about $60 delivered. Best price available, $50 off the first order, with an Amazon credit card application. Works on my 07 a little better than my 04, but it works on both, & clears the codes.

Innova 3030 performs well. This is an excellent tool for the DIY mechanic or layman. It is plug and play with more information made available than I expected. All the information displayed is also explained in text on the tool for easy understanding. With one service diagnostic use, it pays for itself. Even if your check engine light is not currently on, it can retrieve intermittent faults that previously turned on your check engine light if they are stored in your vehicles memory.

I've been using a cheapo ELM327 bluetooth module ( $12-15 on Amazon or Ebay ) and the paid version of Torque ( $4.95 ) on my phone,
and it clears all codes and turns the check engine light off, within about 5-10 seconds ( I always save a log of the error codes so I have something to refer back to if I need it ). I'm actually pretty impressed with Torque..was using the free one and was decidedly NOT impressed, however the paid version is a whole different world. Definitely well worth $4.95, and provides a surprising amount of info and functionality.

Probably not as good as a dedicated OBDII scanner...but, I had the ELM327 already, and took all of 20 seconds to purchase and install Torque. Well worth the $20 or so total investment, in my opinion.

dbtk44; Thanks for the info. For $4.95 I'll definitely give it a try.

Thanks for that dbtk44. It sounds like it is worth investing in the full version of torque, so I will !

Found out that the dealership charges $63 to reset the "Service Required" indicator after I changed the oil. Considering the LR V2.0 from iCarsoft as neither of my current scanners have this functionality. Anyone have experience with this model?

Thank you. My current scanner is an Innova 3140e and it was able to connect and read codes on our 2018 XE 25t. I could also view live engine data, however, I was not able to access the enhanced functions. I did not try my older Actron scanner as it is a lower end model and was acquired maybe 10 years ago.

No scanner is needed; Just following the manuals procedure, pushing buttons on your car, is all that's required to reset things.

I see (thanks to this forum) that this is indeed an option. I will likely still acquire a scanner as I do all my own work on our cars and the XE will not be under warranty forever.

Be sure the scanner you pick works with your model. The ICarsoft i930 I bought won't read the ECU on my 2004 XJ8--their tech support has never gotten back to me after multiple tries.

Default iCarsoft LR V2.0 scanner

I looked thru this whole Thread and found no mention of this scanner. Plenty about the iCarsoft i930 but I need to be able to chase an airbag problem which really cuts out a lot of scanners. This one at $145 on ebay seems to be a good deal, ($250 i think on the corporate website) as it does so much more than the i930. My only problem is that no one has mentioned it and I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who has used one. For the record I have a 2002 XKR convertible.
