the icarsoft i930 i have resets the drivers air bag light on my 07 xj8 vdp.
It goes on for a while, i clear it several times, then it stops a while.
Will pass E Chech with it on as long as smog readings on scanner pass.
Then the battery can be disconnected, so it can be looked at.
Hoping its just a dirty clock spring connector, & cleaning it will keep the light from coming back on.
For an inexpensive scanner it works well.

Thanks for your reply, I have a code 44 which is the airbag impact sensor. I did change the sensor for a used one which looks good but still have the code. Someone said I may need to clear that old code which I have yet to do as I do not have a scanner. I wanted to be able to look at airbag codes in case it is not just a simple code clearing that is required. Plus as the car is 16 years old and who knows what has happened to it over those years however I do know it sat for about 2 years before I got it and that is never good for low voltage electrical connections so I expect other codes from all over the car and want to be able to see as many of them as possible without spending a fortune on a scanner.

The scanner tells me what seems more info on the 07 than the 04.
But the issue for the air bag light is on the 07.
The scanner has more info or functions than i can make full use of, at the present time.
ECU may be what i read about the early XJ8's, as not being as readable as the later models are.
Hoping to avoid any serious issues more than normal wear & tear on a (hopefully) somewhat pampered luxury car, with a hundred thousand miles on the clock.
Not worth the price to fix, so trade it off while it still rides, runs well, & looks great.
The appearance of what it is still jumps out at you if in decent shape, a major selling point i'm sure..

Icebreaker,
Did the Innova 3100 read the enhanced codes for your 2000 XJ8? I am looking for a reasonably priced reader that can see the SRS & ABS stuff on my 2008 S-Type and 2002 XKR. I have a SRS light on that is flashing out a 17 code now. (Passenger OPS) It used to flash out a code for pass airbag and before that a code for the pass pretensioner.
I have contacted iCarSoft about their readers (they say to ask them about pre-2005 Jags) but don't have an answer yet. For engine codes and readiness monitors, I really like to use my laptop that has OBD Auto Doctor on it. The large screen lets you look at lots of selected engine parameters real-time. But they don't do the mfr specific body codes.

OBD II Code Scanner iCarsoft L600 V2.0
I purchased this unit because they claim to be Jaguar specific. Right away I found it would not read much of the live data that it claims to read. I did have a couple of codes which it read but who knows what it didn't read. It claims to read over 100 live data readings but it was reading just a couple so I contacted iCarsoft and over a period of weeks got software updates that each time improved things but never did the job completely. Each time they did an upgrade I had to download it and then install it. Then test it and send them the resulting log showing the short comings. I'm not confident they knew what they were doing with the software. Seemed they were taking blind stabs at fixing it with minimal success. There are readings listed as "NA" and others which read a voltage which should have been translated to a value like a temp or pressure. Now I have had it for more than 30 days in my effort to help them get it sorted, they do not respond to my emails and of course will not allow me to return the unit for a refund.
I would definitely NOT recommend this product or any others that iCarsoft sell.
I have a 2001 XKR and it is one of the listed vehicles on the scanner.

I have purchased an Actron CP9695 and it connected to my 1997 Jag XK8 (hardtop) ok.
I had to manually select the model of car but the Jag XK8 1997 model was available to select from the various drop down boxes (whereas Alpha Romeos were not). The same occurred for my Mercedes 2001 CL55 i.e. it could also be manually selected.
There is generic OBD reading mode for other cars (like Alpha Romeos)
Newer jags can Autoconnect 1997 Jags and 2001 Mercs are not new enough.
The Jag has ignition coil and overheating issues.
The P#### (can't remember the number) for the ignition coils, decoded to the correct engine posn as expected and included a description and the best statistical fix (via the CodeConnect and i buttons).
But P1224...although it displayed the number it couldn't decode any specifics. Via the jag forum I believe this Powertrain number to be a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) related issue.
Question for the forum:- is there is a definitive list for the error codes specific to the Jag XK8 (1997)?
Thx
