which oil filter do you use ? K&N , MANN , OEM, MOBIL-1 ect.
i'll start its either K&N or OEM for me.
K&N i pick because of the company's r&d dept. and the 20+ years of producing good products.
OEM well i choose that beacuse its manufactured to specs of the vehical

I use the K & N first because it's a good filter and second because of the 1" nut they welded to the end of the can which makes it very easy to service in tight spaces.
I've seen a web page where the guy (well at least I think its a guy) bought all the different mfg oil filters for the same application and then cut them open and did a spreadsheet on the type of check valve, number of pleats, surface area, filter material, etc. It was quite interesting to say the least.
I have been using NAPA gold and silver for years on most of my vehicles and have been happy with them.
I also learned that like batteries, there are alot of filters made by the same mfg for several different retailers.
I NEVER use Fram.
Good topic!

I've read the same write-up. I'll admit that, since reading it, I don't use Fram filters on my Jags. I feel a bit silly, though, because I used Fram filters forumpteen years with no ill results....at least none that I could see, feel, or measure. I'll still use them on the family beaters if that's what's on sale that particular day <grin>
Nowadays I use Jag OEM just because it makes me feel good. I've heard, though not confirmed, that Jag has changed filter vendors 2-3 times in the last 10 years or so. I don't know who actually makes 'em. Cooper ?
Cheers

PS-If I run out of OEM I use Bosch or AC Delco.

Wix for me as well they are the same as the Napa Gold filters. I also like the mobil-1 filters.
I agree 100% that fram filters are crap. Put one on your land rover and the first surprise you'll have is your oil light greeting you on start up. Change the filter to a quality one and it goes away.

No doubt due to the crappy check valve or lack thereof.
The NAPA gold for one of my BMW applications was a Mann so NAPA is outsourcing to whatever for different applications

Motorcraft... Mobil-1s are excellent and are designed to be used with synthetics, K&Ns are decent.. But, OEM is definitely the best..
