Original Daimler nuts
Hello: Have a Daimler Super8 V8 2008 with only 32000 Km and Yokohama 8 y/o tires. Had new tires installed recently. Mechanic used pneumatic wrench to remove original nuts and broke one. Couldn’t find original, so installed ‘solid’ one-piece nut. Was warned other original nuts will fail eventually. From your experience with this car and its ’****-to fail’ nuts, is it wise to replace all original nuts to avoid problems? Will use of manual tire-wrench to remove and place nuts be better than the pneumatic?
Yes. Many threads on this and those crappy sheet metal covered lug nuts are way too common and are used on many brands. I always replace them with solid lug nuts. Stainless Steel is best as the solid chrome plated ones will rust with time.
Here is a quick search that has 240 threads concerning lug nuts. Read a few and make your own decision.
