Hello Jag Lovers- I am hoping someone out there can help- Last night I was in a hit and run accident and the person that hit me was driving a jag convertible- newer, I think. I don't know model- I did find this piece of turn signal or headlight at the scene. As you can see the paper back says Jaguar and also has "DROIT" or "Right" in French. The opposite side is mirrored finish and it is plastic. Do any of you good folks know what part this might be and what model and year it came off of? I really appreciate you help! So does the State Patrol!

The word "Valeo" is headlight, maybe foglight??.

The date stamp of 17/04/0? is 17th April, and I reckon 01, making it an XK8 era car. BUT, that last digit really would confirm if its the next model up.

 

THANK YOU for the reply. I looked closely at the code again. It is 17/04/01. I think from other numbers It may be a fog light. Any way to pin down the year?

The year would be hard, however, most production lines run on a "just in time" parts supply basis.

Using that, I would bet on the car being an 01MY, and maybe June or July actual "build date".

My X300 is 12/95 build, and the wiper motor has 10/95 as its date code, and lots of little items like that are dated about 1 - 2 months prior to the build date tag. This tag is attached at the end of the build run, basically as it leaves the line.

Looking up the part number (89201001), that is the right front fog light to a 2001 XK. But, not much more info can be gathered from the pieces that you have. Odds are, your best bet would be to start canvassing the auto body repair shops in the area and see who is getting the right front corner of their 01 XK repaired. I bet it will be a fairly short list. Should make finding the person responsible as easy as possible. Just going to be a lot of leg work.
