Default Stromberg Question

Ok, so I got a carb kit for my stromberg 175cd carbs and rebuilt them, only to find the bypass valve diaphragm is rotten on each. I am having trouble finding replacement parts online, and my local parts stores don't carry them. (Autozone, NAPA, as well as some local import-only shops) As I try to track them down I am wondering if there is an alternative fix I can do for these things. They arent completely gone, just have holes wearing in them. Is there any silicone-like stuff I could maybe use that wont get eaten by fuel? I understand some people run with these valves plugged but that is a little extreme. Would it be ok to just run them as-is until new ones are found? again, the holes arent too bad, but need fixed. Any help would be great! thanks!

Have you tried. Nalley Jaguar one of our vendors, give Dan a call, they might not stock old 175 C parts but he may know someone.

This is taxing my memory, but I seem to remember repairing ruptured rubber diaphragms in carburetors or carburettors with Dow-Corning kitchen seal* many years ago when knights were bold and sheep were nervous. Give it a try, nothing to lose...

Thanks for the replies. I was referred to a local European auto shop tucked away down town here in Boise, and they said they could order me some by Monday at $30 each. This is a bit spendy but I may do it anyway. I am going to attempt that fix you suggested Leedsman, and hopefully it gets me by while i wait for some cheaper ones to come. I recall finding a vendor in Georgia that sold them, but I'm not sure if it is the same one, I will definitely check them out. The cheapest I saw them for was about $10 each, so as long as shipping isn't $40, then I will save quite a bit.
