Question Stupid Gasket

Hello Fine People,
A quick question if I may..??
As some know from my post in the XJ40 section I currently have an AJ6, 4.0 Cylinder Head sat on my workbench and not on my engine as I would like.
On the back of the Head there is a little plate with a central land that separates the Coolant circuit from the Oil circuit.

This isn't my question but why is there..?? Why does it even exist..?? What purpose does it serve..?? It's surely just asking for trouble....

Ok, it is there so I've got to live with it so here's my question - what can I make a replacement gasket from..??
I've got access to Compressed Fibre jointing material, High temperature Rubber Jointing Material and even Cork - all of various thicknesses.
But which to use...??

Cheers, Dave.

Is it this one?

My guess would be to get the sand out during the casting process.
I'll leave the experts to comment on the gasket.

Based on the location and temperatures I would go with a compressed fiber gasket and RTV high temp sealant.

The yellow gasket was ALWAYS included in the head sets I bought years ago.
I probably have a dozen left over from sets lying around the Jaguar shop when I worked at the dealer.

Thanks Gents.
Compressed Fibre with a smear of RTV sounds like the winner.

I did fully expect a replacement in the 'Top end Gasket Kit' that I bought but no - there's nothing even close....
Luckily for me there is a CNC Gasket Cutting Machine where I work

Cheers, Dave.
