I've paid less than $5 CDN a bottle tax included at my local GM dealer, and things are always more expensive in Canada.

 

Boy, do I feel silly!

I think I paid $12/bottle at a local GM dealer several years ago. More recently the couple local dealers didn't have any in stock....so I just went online.

Don't know. The ones I bought had the two different labels as well, but the second label had French, so that's just a labelling requirement for sale in Canada. The parts guy said the numbers had changed a few times recently.

 

The topic doesn't merit tons of research but suffering a rare bout of insomia last night I did a bit of checking...with no conclusive answer.

It's generally agreed that the 10953513 is sold in Canada and the 12345982 is sold in the USA and there's a distinct pattern, judging from remarks of different forums (Pontiac mostly), of Americans mentioning paying about $10/bottle and Canadians mention paying about $5/bottle.

It also dawned on me that some dealers and vendors are probably buying the oil from AC Delco and others buying it from GMSPO (General Motors Service Parts Operations). Two different entities with very different pricing structures selling the same product....a subject which has been a bone of contention between dealers and corporate General Motors for decades.
