trouble code 37
new member here with a 93xj6 vdp, code 37 in ecu. i have 12volts at egr vacuum solenoid and 12volts at ecu on the return side of egr vacuum solenoid.bench testing vacuum solenoid with 12volts reveals audible click when triggered. is it possible that egr itself can trigger this code? vacuum is present while engine running at egr. with little else left except ecu fault, is this a common fault on this car or should i keep on going with diag.
The ECM detects the EGR solenoid coil winding and if the resistance/current draw is out of spec, the DTC 37 is flagged.
I uploaded the S91_AJ6 4.0 Engine Management.pdf and it will have ALL the info you need to diagnose.
A word of experience to you is that I once had a 1991 XJ40 with a HARD FAULT DTC 37. It turned out that the power transistor in the ECM for the EGR vacuum solenoid failed and the code was PERMANENT!!!!!!!!
I swapped the ECM to another car and the fault FOLLOWED.
Download the guide and diagnose!!!!!
