The 4th digit of Jag Vins designates the model of your vehicle. In your case, you have an X350 XJ8. SAJ or the 1st 3 digits designates the manufacturer.....Jaguar Cars Ltd. The E could mean XJ8L, or VDP. Not sure exactly. I have it written down somewhere from school. Never need anything but the last six.

Is there any way to find what # in build order that A car is? Like # 25 of 3000 built of that perticular model.

On the lastsix. Let's say yours was M54000. S-types in 03 started around M45000. Therefore yours would have been the 9000th car.
Easier still is the XF as it is new.
Vin starts at R00001. So if yours is R00300 then you got the 300th car.
I thin the first 1000 cars are not released to public. They are used for crash testing, executives within Jag drive them, the press gets abunch of them.
Hope that answered your question.

So this would be for all s-types built in that year and is not specific to models? Let say R's only.

It's the same for all Jaguars. X-type thru the XK's at least 2000 and later. I think it goes back much further than that, but I don't know how far for sure.

I'm just curious because I keep hearing that there were only 1000 STR's made between 03 and 07 and mine was delivered in July of 02 so I was just wondering what # in order of build that it was. Also Is there a way to get a copy of my original window sticker?
Thanks for the help.

Oh. Nothing specific there. S-types just go from one vin to next. There should be a digit in the vin designating R. But production run is from Mxxxxx -Nxxxxx for 2003 on. 2000-2002 are Lxxxxx-Mxxxxx not overlapping the 2003. M45000 or there about.
