Default Wanting to rewrap exposed parts of wire harness in new loom. Need Advice!

All the exposed original wire loom is brittle and cracking and I'm wanting to replace it and make it look good again.

Any Advise?

I figure this project will be as simple as unwrapping the loom, then pulling it off the wireing and simply replacing it.

Please edit your profile and include vehicle details - that would be most helpful!

Try this stuff, it might be easier to install and last longer: http://www.cableorganizer.com/woven-wrap/#features

Candy, 2 options. 1) you can look around town and check out the car stereo shops or any electronics shop (even Lowe's, Home Depot, etc) carry this stuff. It is called "wire loom". 2) Go to E-bay and do a search on "wire loom". From there, you can find all sorts of sizes, lengths, and colors. You can make just about anything you want.

The wire loom is easy to install since it is split on the side and all you have to do is open it up a little to get it started and then keep pushing it on to the wiring harness. Once you have the length you need, go back say every foot or so and using the same color electrical tape, put a few wraps of electrical tape around. This will help hold the loom shut Where you have a few pieces joining, you can take the electrical tape and run it around the 2 or 3 pieces to join them together. When joining wire loom together, you want to start by going around one of the loom pieces say 2-3 times. From there, stretch the electrical tape a little bit and make the bend to get over to another piece. From there, you can go around say 1.5 times, crossing back over to the original piece. In short, you are going to end up with an "X" on each side and loops in 3 places. This will be a very strong joint and will keep most of the water out of the loom.

If you need more help, let me know. It is also advisable that if you have wires that branch out from a main bundle, you should run the loom the length of the main bundle, letting the side bundle just poke out the side and then come back later with a second piece to fit the bundle that is sticking out. This will make taping things up much easier.
