Default Electronic delimiter...

This is purely an academic discussion, because I have no real interest in changing the speed capacity of my vdp, but...

Why is there speed delimiting at all? Is it merely an issue of changing the settings on the computer chip or is more involved?

I understand delimiting on golf carts and electric scooters, so that mom doesn't go flying through the mall...

But why on a high end luxury or sport touring car?

Are BMW or Mercedes delimiting as well?

Yup, BMW and Mercedes Benz restrict their cars , top speed is limited to 250 km/h , still you can delete these limitations for a few extra bucks
I believe factory techs try to catch the most efficient way of fuel consumption and engine reliability and let's not forget emission restrictions , they must meet .Therefore I believe manufacturers do use limitations

Just as an aside in the UK the big four motorcycle manufacturers have followed a self imposed speed limit of 186mph for some time, mainly as they feared restrictive legislation if the broke the 200mph barrier.
