You already have a cold air intake if you have the factory air cleaner.

So just change the panel filter to a higher flow one?

The airbox draws air from outside the engine compartment. I would say 'that is a cold air intake'. If you use one of the oil wetted filter elements, I have read posts that state not to use too much oil as the MAFS might get coated/contaminated with excess oil film and provide a false reading to the ECM. I don't know the flow rate of the different air filter elements so I don't know if the paper is a limiting factor in airflow. There are lots of posts on this subject with alot of opinions from 'Stock' to 'K and N' types. Do search and decide for yourself!!

I no longer put dogs in these fights. Performance of aftermarket air intake systems have dual influences coming from preception and reality. Whichever one satisfies you that you've got your money's worth is money well spent....and it's darned good for the economy too.

The factory air filter is already a high flow type.

You already have a cold air filter system as steve11 mentioned, so only thing left is a K&N filter. It does flow more, that’s not the question, and the differences become even bigger once the original paper filter becomes dirty. Just don't overoil the filter. Also, don’t expect any noticeable power increase, it will only give a little, but still if you after power all bits help.
