I noticed for the last couple days when I go from one page to another when looking at the New Posts, I get pop-up ads that fill my screen and require me to click on the "x" to close it. These are really, really annoying to the point that I might quit coming here.

Just wanted to voice my objection...

Mike

Consider using an ad block!

Stick with it oldmike......I know they can be a pain, although probably necessary to keep the forum free for use to all.
Personally I don't see too many, although even one can be annoying when clicked over a few times.

As suggested you could always consider running an add blocker?

I don't know if I can use an ad blocker on my iPad, but I'll check it out. So far this evening I've only had one pop-up. This morning I was getting them with every new page, even after posting a quick reply like this one.

EDIT: I forgot to say -- I don't mind ads on sites like this one. In fact, I'm one of the members who will click on an ad every now and again and have even bought stuff after doing so. It's just the fact that the pop-ups "demand" attention! I've bought parts and gotten insurance quotes from the ads on this site, but I will NEVER select a product or service from a pop-up ad, that's how much they bother me.

I use Firefox as my internet browser and I understand it can be used on Mac devices and it has plugins for adblock. Take a look at it and see what you think.

iPads and Macs run different versions. Adblock does not work on iPad, although there are iPad browsers that will block ads, but I like Safari. I will just put up with the ads for now.

Because you use an apple product I.E. the Ipad it will not allow you to install 3rd party apps or programs a bit like Microsoft in the old days where they wanted you to only use Microsoft products apple does the same thing
Bit like only using genuine parts for your jaguar which I and most people think is wrong the choice should be up to you the individual not the manufacturer
that is the reason why Microsoft was always getting hacked and badmouthed
That's why google invented android and made it free so people with ideas can get them out there which inturn leads to innovation unlike mega corperations trying to control what we think do and purchase
Try going into your settings in your I pad there should be a switch to turn of adds or something like that if that still does not work get onto a couple I pad forums and type into google search how to block adds on I pad there will be a multitude of answers
The beauty of the internet the answers are out there you just need to ask the right questions
