Hi
I am also a newbie and also suprised at this "limited access".
I am a very active member on a different forum (have been for years now) and there is no such limitation and I have not been aware of any spam issue there over the years.
The frustration of this is that I am a new jag owner with lots of newbie enthusiasm and would love to be able to enjoy the gallery's etc.
How long does one have to post or wait before this access is granted or is it something random?
thanks
Michael

Ditto
Mods ... you lie!!!
What you need to beat spammers is a proper "captcha" system, not a restrictive posting system...
If you need some help on vBulletin systems, I know someone who knows her way around this BB system and her prices are quite reasonable..
FWIW, not all of us newbies are serial stalkers or forum rapists lmFao...

Sirgibby, If only every one read the thread in the new members section entitled "NEW MEMBERS - MUST READ" Its all explained there.
Roughly, around 10 post count or more and a week or so will get you full access.
Cincypix - Ditto to above. Further, your comments and attitude will not be welcome here for very long. This forum is different to others you may or may not frequent. I assure you that the mods here are great people who do a good and mostly thankless unpaid task....calling them liars won't be accepted either by them or I.
You have been made welcome and can freely use the site within the rules of the forum. As much as we want new members to add to the database, if you don't like / or can't abide by the rules you are of course free to leave

Hi Jim
With the lead poster in this thread talking months I was a little concerned at how long I would be waiting.
I had scanned through the "NEW MEMBERS - MUST READ" post and it was very vague.
It gave no indication of how many posts or how long, but if I had known it was 10 posts and a week I would happily have waited.
Thanks for letting me in anyway. I look forward to seeing all the goodies the forum has to offer.
cheers
Michael

"This 'period' includes a preset number of days that you must be active, and a minimum post count. Once these are surpassed, the magic happens and you'll have full access. I assure you, the time and post count is trivial to a genuine new member, but extremely effective against spammers"

Sirgibby, last year we had a massive spam issue and had to instigate some changes to New Member sign in's. Many options were/are open to us, but it was felt that the simplest solution was to introduce a time/post delay.
As you undoubtably appreciate the exact nature of this restriction was not published at that time, it still is not, and may be changed if it becomes neccessary to do so.
The Forum is run on a free flowing basis with minimal intervention from the Admin/mod team, and all members are encouraged to help out to keep this Forum special.
As you will have seen from the post below your OP, not all members realize this.
Look forward to seeing you on the boards.
