Not necessarily chased them off perhaps.

Norri,
This happened to you before on this thread - did you eventually see the Big Purple Cow?
Is it possible Uncle Sam's censoring Purple Cow Pics?

Default One thing to look for when posting images

After following the instructions at the beginning of this post you have to make sure of two things when inserting your image.

One, when you click the "Insert Image" button, a new window pops up that says "Please enter the URL of your image". Notice that it already has Http:// highlighted in the box, delete it before you paste your link in the box. If not, after [IMG] the start of your link will probably look like this http://http://, with http:// being listed twice. That will prevent it from being posted.

Two, pretty much a verification to number one, after you have inserted your image into the post, just make sure http:// isn't listed twice. If it is just delete one of them, and it should post just fine.

I don't see a way to post an image directly from a computer, there are two buttons, "Insert Link" and "Insert Image", when clicked on, both of them ask for a URL link.

1. click on the attachments button (circled in red) paper clip icon
2. in the dialogue box, click on the browse button (arrowed in blue)
3. navigate to the image stored on your PC
4. press the upload button to the right of the browse button
5. either repeat to add further images or close the dialogue box

The dialogue box also has buttons to remove images if you need to edit or change them.

For some reason I don't have that button, instead my whole top row of choices are, a button for Remove Text Formatting, then the rest windows, from left to right, Fonts, Sizes, Colors, Smiles, Attachments, then Undo and Redo buttons. When the various windows are clicked on the up or down choices they all have multiple options except for attachments. When I click on the up or down arrow for that window, it just says attachments, no other choices and it doesn't allow me to do anything.

Default Computer and Browser Issue?

I'm on a Mac and I get the same Reply screen with a window for attachments and smiles using either Safari or Firefox.

To see that button or all buttons in Safari, you need to use full reply mode rather than quick reply.

But for img attachments I could never get things to work so...

When in Full reply mode rather than Quick reply, you don't need the missing button, simply scroll much further down the page and you should see a text box saying 'Manage Attachments', this will give you the options outlined.

This reply made with Safari.

Unfortunately when I use the full reply mode, "New Reply", my buttons are still missing, I'm still seeing windows where buttons should be.

However, I do see the "Manage Attachments" button further down the page, that will certainly come in handy, thanks.

Yes I also got that in Safari (on PC) and therefore as usual abandoned Icons and went for TXT laced commands.

The 'IMG' button seems to be dead in Mac Safari. No idea why, but there is always a speedy work around.

It really sucks that you have to use a third party photo bucket style service.
On the XFforum, I can simply click the phot icon and use my albums on my phone, iPad, or pc. No third party required. Soooooo much easier.

You don't have to use 'a third party photo bucket style service' for pics. I never do.

All images I upload are stored on my PC. The only thing I do use OnLine storage for is large PDF's which exceed the forum upload size limit.

When I try to upload a photo it automatically pops up a URL image request nix. On the XF forum I have a choice to use my stored photos or a URL.
Am I missing something?

Try this from post #35.

But if you want a big pic in your post.

BEFORE you hit Submit Reply.

Right click on the IMGblahblah and left click Copy Image/link location.

Now Left click the Mountain/insert image icon in the top tool bar.

Use CTRL +V to paste your copied link.

Click OK.

Click Submit.

The pic below was inserted in less time than it took to type the instructions.

Default Four steps...Really?

Using a picture hosting site AND following four steps just to load a picture of my car on this forum? Really…please devise a simpler way to post pics. I don't have time for this albeit this is a GREAT site. I'm doing well taking pics with my iPhone and having them available on my Macbook and the Cloud. Thank you.
