is there a way of marking new posts as read... as a new member i have 20 pages of " new posts" would be nice to start afresh ? thanks

It's not compulsory.

I have 20 also, I normally skim through the first couple of pages to see what piques my interest after that although "new" they are probably not brand new and will remain new to me forever.
The ones I have on page 20 are a week old.

 

if you really want to clear out unread threads, use the quick links pull down ( shown in post 2) and select Mark Forums Read - problem solved
