Option to not show image during edit or composition?

Option to not show image during edit or composition?
Please add an option so an uploaded image does not show in the text box of a post or make it appear as a small thumbnail. The old format with the link address worked well and was easy to navigate type around. The new format is not user friendly with the 3" tall text box.
