Can I suggest we have a new topic on Scanners. There's stuff everywhere on this subject, a lot of repeats. Unfortunately the inbuilt search engine is not terribly discriminating (or I can't use it properly, although I have read the sticky)
If the 'user approved scanner' sticky was moved there as the head article I think it would be a valuable addition and would encourage people to add to that thread rather than scatter valuable info around the other topics.
