Default Trouble opening workshop manual

Hi folks and thanks for the great site! Anyway, I downloaded the x300 workshop manual from the site here and find that I cant open it. I have Adobe reader 9 installed, but I get a message telling me that this is either not compatible with the rar file or that the file itself may be corrupt, if it was sent as an attachment etc. Any suggestions? What do I need to read this rar file? Or would I be better to dowload it again in case it is corrupted?

Many thanks.

Hi there. When I checked the file again last week it was OK. 200mb

You need to extract the .rar file with something along the lines of WinRar or 7Zip etc.

Extract it to a new folder and you should then be good to go.

Simply click on the 'Start' pdf and the thing becomes fully active.

Opens fine with Acrobat 9 (I just checked) and on Win7 64 bit.

Any problems or if you are unsure about the extraction procedure just sing out.

Ok then and thanks for the response. I will have a poke about and see where I can source the necessary gizmo to open/extract it. Will let you know how I get on and thanks again.

So all is good, sogood thanks for taking the time to post confirmation, much appreciated.

Actually, although you don't know it, you have also helped out, by confirming that the download is working for a remote PC. (it's one of those, that every time I test it, it works for me, situations).

I have cleaned up the FAQ .rar instructions, to include the extraction notes.

Hope this makes things clearer for folk.

Hi Translator
Is the shop manual the JTIS?
I have purchased the JTIS for XJ8 from 2 different vendors on Ebay. Neither of them have the content they should have (Missing Engine Repairs sections, etc).
Does the downloads in this thread have the full JTIS?

Hello Jim, if we are talking about the X300 manual (at 200mb) then it looks pretty complete to me. Includes engine, transmission, electrical, servicing and diagnostic sections......

But it is for the X300 range up to 97, includes both 6 and 12 cyl engines and is literally several hundred pages of info.

But not XJ8.

Works fine on Win7 64 bit.
