It's started. My local/closest JLR Dealer has officially closed.
I was surprised as this was also a Land Rover dealer, of course. However, though the group said they had no plans to close as little as 2 months ago, but they closed up with no warning other than sending a letter to us all basically saying nothing more than they are closing, probably for good, and the next closest dealer location. Which, by the way is just at 200 miles away. My brother has a buddy who is in the ownership group for the dealership around here said he was told that there is a very high likelihood the next closest dealer to us won't last until the Summer. Dominos are falling.
This doesn't confront me as I never have nor never will take any of my fleet to a dealer, but still. It's ominous. And most likely planned.
I have been looking to get out of the corporate rat race I have been in my whole career. I have lots of other stills and as such options. Perhaps I need to see this as an opportunity to open an Indy JLR garage with my brother (owns tow company and is also a long time diesel mechanic). Though, he does stay super busy all day toting EVs to chargers 😂 No joke.
Anyone else seen any closures nearby?
