Default Loud Thudding Noise When Trying To Start

Hello,
Trying to wake up a sleeping Beauty. Battery is dead but put some jumper cables on and was able to get all lights and electronics to power and be responsive. Turned key towards ON and sounds like fuel pump is ticking? But when pushing the ignition start button a loud and aggressive thudding noise becomes present. Not exactly sure what this is? Thanks for any help

Starter not properly engaging; failed engine mounts.

Thanks for the fast reply.
Failed engine mounts is why the thudding is so loud?
Should I try knocking the starter to see if it will free it up or is it advised to pull it and further inspect?

Before removing the starter motor, use a pry bar to inspect the engine mounts and check to see if the exhaust system is contacting the bodywork.

Remove the spark plugs and make sure it is not locked.

Finally was able to get back over to the car. Spark plugs pulled, engine turns freely. Motor mounts seem to be sound. Still a loud thudding noise and car will not start. I tried gently "rapping" on starter with phenolic hammer but no improvement. I guess the next thing is to pull the starter and examine it upon the bench. The car is in a tight garage unit not allowing much access around it. Any advise on removing the starter? And could this possibly be something else before i go and try to pull it? Everything in my mind is pointing towards the starter
