Default MK V 3.5 engine tuning

Hi there,

After having finished my engine revision, I'm still strugling with the tuning of my engine.
I can have it running well at idle, but as soon as I try to accelerate it, it start stottering and back firing. Often the engine stall's at that moment.
I checked the ignition timing, and I see that this is wandering around with about 5° around the timing mark. Dough I have an electronic ignition installed...
I disconnected the automatic choke actuator, but this doesn't change a thing.
Anyone an idea what could be the cause of this?
Thanks for your advise.
Dirk

Normally those symptoms are related to fuel supply - runs OK at idle when not much fuel is needed. but when accelerating not enough fuel is being supplied. Have you checked this aspect out ?

Hi Dirk,
If the ignition timing is wondering 5 degrees (which is a lot), I would say you have a worn distributor or distributor drive gears. The timing should not be moving around much.

Hi Fraser,
I excluded the idea of having a short of fuel as I have also backfire in the exhaust.
I don't think that it can be the cause.
Thanks
Dirk
