Default Mk V steering stiffness

Hi guys
1949 MkV .
Since 1986 it was never driven, all all steering,, suspension had been overhauled.
Turn the car to the left , the wheel wants to return to the middle when you let go of the steering wheel, as it should. Turn to the right and the wheel just binds up with no return to middle, its a bit winding up a clock spring as it gets close the the max. winding.
I`ve had he wheel alignment set.
I`ve jacked the car up, removed both front wheels and the steering spins in both directions, altho the right is not as free.
The steering damper on the box has been completely backed off and same effect. I`ve removed the idler arm and its free, not ceased nor too far one way on the screw. Also both drag link bushed appear free, whereby the pins are free to rotate.
Its got me mifted. Its almost as if the bush in the steering column head is ceasing, but why is it ok turn left, if its ceased or bent !
Any help or guidance would be apprieciated.
Thanks
Roger
