Mark X boot wont open on my friends car. The key turns ok but it seems the linkage inside may have come adrift. Any solutions as to how we can open the boot please to affect a repair.

Schony you say the key turns but that does not open the trunk (boot). There is a lever arm directly under the key on the lamp plinth. Does that move at all? If it does try some gently pounding in each lower corner of the boot. Depending on how long it has been shut the latches may be stuck.
