I have a 1997 XJR and need to remove the lower and back part of the rear seats so I can get into the truck the battery is completely dead and the key that I have to open the doors will not unlock the trunk...

Sorry you will not get to the battery that way, you have a gas tank in the way and most people are unable to remove the tank the right way. If you have a master ( black head) key you should spray the lock with WD40 and give it a try. Do not force it and if it is a green key do not try it.
