Default 1967 Daimler mk 2 rear screen

I am in need of a replacement rear window for a 1967 mk2 Daimler and wondered if a Jaguar screen from the same era would fit?
i have a fully restored 1963 mk 2 Jaguar and upon comparison they seem to be the same.

Also is anyone selling one?? I am based in Hertfordshire.

Thank you

Chris

They are the same, in fact the whole bodyshell is the same except for the pressings around where the bell-housing goes. These are smaller in the Daimler because the bell-housing sits further forward.

Chrisp as has been said the size is the same and hopes you have found one. There are a few different screens though--tinted, non tented, heated for example.

Default Rear window

Not had any luck finding a second hand one yet. Don’t mind if it’s tinted, non tinted, heated or not 😊

Understood--choices are possibly limited. A tinted or clear one looks odd if the remainder of glass is the other way.

Note that if you go for a heated rear screen that they are thicker & require the correct rubber.

I would be careful of that particular screen from eBay, it looks like it came from a car that's been in a field for years.
It may blooming around the edges and have unseen flaws that can't be seen because the seller left it so dirty.

If one collects it in person, at least you can see what you're getting.
May have to drive hundreds of miles though.

Sorry for the delay. I DO HAVE A SECOND-HAND SCREEN! If I tell the truth, I have two, One heated that I intend to keep and another that is available for sale. My son lives in Berkshire and is visiting me here next week - so I may be able to get him to get it a bit closer to you. I will clean it up and assess its condition. What are you prepared to offer me/ Alec G.

Hi Alec,

that sounds wonderful. With regards to price there is one for sale near hull in good used condition for £75 but that is a really long trek for me from Hertfordshire so do you think that’s a fair price?

kind regards

Chris

Chrisp996, I was hoping for a little more, but getting it to you will be the issue! As I said, my son who lives in Berkshire is visiting me next week. However, he will be emigrating to the US in August/September and will be disposing of his house and contents - so has a lot on his mind and may not be too keen on being a courier! Nevertheless, we will doubtless be visiting him before he leaves, and we are on stand-bye for looking after our grandsons at the start of the school term. This would be an opportunity for me to bring it further south! Where in Hampshire are you? Alec G.

Hi Chris, I am in Chester. I know your area of Hertfordshire. I have now cleaned off the old sealant/rubber residue from the screen. There are no chips, it is a TRIPLEX and there are a few scratches. It is well usable and being an original should fit quite well. I know modern reproductions are not too accurate. Alec.

My son will be heading home in Berkshire tomorrow. He could take the M1 south. If he can get the screen into his vehicle, are you prepared to meet him say at a motorway service station closer to you?
