Default BW 35 Gearbox Help

Hi I am restoring a 1965 MK2 3.4 Auto. On removing the torque convertor from the gearbox the pin in the attached picture fell out. The pin is 9/16 inch diameter and 2 inches long. I assume it fell out of the gearbox splined drive shaft as there is nowhere else it will fit. I have looked at all my manuals and spare parts catalogs but this part is not shown.
Can anyone help to identify what this is and if it is from inside the shaft which end goes in first.
Any help or pictures would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum heyrouk,

If this is evidence of breakage (arrowed in red) .......

......... it could be sheared off the end of the splined input shaft.

Thanks for your interest. It appears the item I found is not part of the gearbox but is something that was dropped/left in the bell housing by the previous owner. I gained peace of mind from the following thread in another forum which has a complete, yes complete strip down of a BW35 in pictures.

The part appears to be from a DG 250 trans, like bigger Jags would have back in the day. It did fit in the hollow input shaft and had the dimpled end pointing forwards into converter.
