I don't know if there was a factory unit, although there was one for the mk10 or 420. Quite cumbersome I think, and wouldn't imagine it to be very efficient.
I have seen a couple of after market options , but the only source I can locate off hand is a British company who advertise in Jaguar World magazine..WATJAG Ltd - Derek Watson - Independent Jaguar Specialist.
If I see any others, I'll post again
Cheers, Phil

Jaguar never fitted aircon to the Mark 2 or the S-Types of the same era. Aftermarket systems were fitted during its production life, with the evaporator usually in the boot with large diameter pipes and a fan to blow the cooled air into the back of the cabin via the deck at the back of the rear seats. How the compressor and condenser/drier were fitted I don't know, but there is not much room in a Mark 2 engine compartment at the best of times.

No need to go to the UK for your Mk 2 A/C....purpose-designed units right here:
Porsche Air Conditioning & Jaguar Air Conditioning

Thumbs up This is the AC system I would recommend....

Jaguar XKE, Mark II, 3.4, 3.8 S, 72-89 Porsche Air Conditioning

I am planning on using this system on my 3.8S; I might use a different compressor due to the motor swap I am using but will definately use the rest of the system. They make great systems on many collector cars.

I found a secondhand repco underdash unit in a sale, the unit neatly replaces the shelf under the switches, (*just* fits between the walnut dash pieces, had to lose the radio panel and move the heater controls & radio to a wood infill in place of the shelf under the switches, also lose the rear heater air pipes), the compressor goes in instead of the dynamo, and I mounted a new alternator on top of the compressor, driven off the convenient double pulley already fitted to the compressor. Flush all parts, new hoses & receiver/drier, tiny new condensor in front of the standard jag radiator (off, I am pretty certain, a daihatsu Move or charade) Electric fan from a citroen BX in front of condensor, gassed up by the local a/c shop and hey presto, it works! This was in 1991 in western Australia, its been regassed once since, and it works a treat. And it didn't overheat even in the 40 degree c summer heat! (but its only a 2.4)
Unfortunately I don't know the exact model of repco, but it looks much the same as many others I have seen fitted to 70s cars. Looks ok if the chrome is polished off the grilles.
Good luck, and mind your knuckles, its very tight!
Huw

The one I recommend is by RetroAir that is designed for the Jaguar to give modern AC performance and it looks factory.
