Mk1 3.4 First Questions
Good Morning All,
I am hoping for some assistance through these forums in getting a rough but largely complete 1959 3.4 Mk1 back on the road, driver level.
I also have some number of spares that I probably wont need to do this that can be donated or traded as the process continues (I'll know more what I have when I finish my parts needed list).
First off, besides SNGbarratt, Welsh Ent, and XKs Unlimited, are there any other good place out there to research and buy parts? I am getting a little disheartened at the "No Longer Available" statements.
Thanks!

I have 2 MK1s. A 1957 3.4L 4-speed and a 1958 MK1 3.4L Autobox. Parts are not easy to find and there are the few you know who handle new parts. Primarily there a things on the MK1 that are specific to the MK1 and are considered precious metal, like the front turn signal assemblies at around $300 ea. I just keep buying old examples that are being given up as to expensive or the owners are not capable of putting back together, either for cost or time. There is a lot of NLA and you have to find used parts and restore each item or manufacture it. The gentleman who made a Mike Hawthorn replica said he would never do it again. You do not show where you are located, but I may have some rare parts used that need cleaning and restored, that I have collected. Still trying to get to mine and get it blasted , painted and reassembled. I'm in the St. Louis, MO USA area.

Thanks JagFixer
I am located in Charleston, SC. I will be happy to relay the unfortunate list of things I need. I have some "spares" as I mentioned (9 hubcaps among others) that I would be more than willing to trade out. Mine is an auto as well, which seems to happily move through all the gears, but it is not really road worthy yet. The more "urgent" need stuff is: parts for the hood latch. I have the safety latch (and a new spare, I think) but not the cable controlled pieces. A turn signal switch, and a capillary tube/sending unit for the combo oil press/temp gauge.
I'm going to do the timing and a brake bleed/cleaning this weekend and will have a new list of needed parts on Monday, I am sure!
