Default Mk2 alternator possibility

I found this example of an alternator that may fit in a mk2 at a reasonable price.

I have to say the price doesn't look very reasonable to me but then i'm a tightwad!

I am planning to fit an alternator to my MK2 but was just going to find something more modern and make up some brackets. The only challenge will be sorting out a pulley but i'm sure I can make something to do the job.

Yes, well if you want one that is black and looks like a generator you are going to pay SNG of xks a bit more and for half the amps.

I have a Dynalite conversion on my S type from https://simonbbc.com/dynalite-dynamo...amo-pos-earth/
I converted to Neg earth and went for this conversion as I had the Hobourn Eaton PAS pump being powered off the back of the Generator. The Dynalite is basically the old generator body with the take off on the back for the PAS with an Alternator inside instead of a Generator. No need to change any brackets or drive pulley. For those looking to keep the original look under the bonnet but change to Neg earth and an alternator I fully recommend it.

The Dynalite was what I was looking into when I found the one in the link above. I have a 3.8L engine arriving hopefully next week. (See thread "3.8L Auction win!") It comes with a Generator with the PS pump attached. I'm considering doing electric PS so I'd like an alternator with more amps and this on looks like it would fit. I'll probably sell the generator and pump.

I like that one from Summit Racing, same price as the alternator from Retro Air in Dallas.

does it have the engaging dog for the factory power steering? The one from Retro Air does.

The one from Summit appears to be made to look like an old generator for the flat head Ford collectors. I didn't see a PS dog model.
My plan is to use the electric EZ power steering coupled to a quick ratio manual box.

prices have changed, especially the alternator with the adapter dog for p/s went up by $150.

but the one for MK-2 without p/s went down by a hundred dollars.
