MK2. What's largest AC condenser that fits in front of radiator?
I'm slowly accumulating hardware to install AC in my 60 mk2 3.8, 4sp od. I have done searches and cannot find what the largest parallel flow condenser will fit with electric fan in front.
I contacted a USA vendor that supplies a kit and the condenser size they use is 12 by 14 inches, with the 14 being the horizontal dimension. I do not think those dimensions includes the connection.
This seems smaller than what looks like will fit. So who has fitted a parallel flow unit larger than 12 by 14, and if so what was the size.
By the way car is lhd.
Thanks

I think you're probably going to have to adapt universal type of condensor and then make brackets for the fan. Unfortunately, the radiator opening of a Mark 2 is generally taller than it is wider, and most modern cars are the reverse. That will limit your choices.

The Mk2 and S Type had the, so called, "chair" condenser OE. It is unlikely that you will ever find one of them. They are as rare as rocking horse excrement.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to use a universal modern parallel flow condenser of the type which is what is supplied in this kit.

I contacted them and they are the ones I referenced that use a 12" x 14" condenser, which is quite small. I made a cardboard template of those dimensions and slid it in thru the grill. Yes not very precise but it does look like one could go a bit larger. There are many condenser options in the market.
So my question to those who have installed a modern A/C system in their MK2 or S Type, do you know the size of the modern condenser used?
I suppose my question will ultimately be answered when I start the installation with the radiator out of the car and the grill removed and make true measurements. I think a limiting factor is going to be the hose connections as the width of the opening narrows as it goes towards the grill.
Thanks
