I'm trying to solve an oil leak and believe it is emanating from the oil feed pipe on the cylinder head and on the block. I bought different crush washers from Barrett that appear to be installed in one direction. Called them and they don't have any information in that regard. Anyone here have an idea which way they should be installed if it doesn't matter? This is what they look like.
I use those for pet-*****, not banjo fittings.
I always used new solid copper washers for banjo fittings _ I put a light film of silicon grease on all surfaces before assembly.
Make sure there are no small nicks in the banjo fittings or on the head.
Be sure and grease the threads too, especially in the soft aluminum head.
I, too, always use solid copper washers, new if possible. If I'm re-using them. I'll give them a quick reface both sides on a bit of 400g paper and an old mirror I keep for the purpose, It also pays to anneal them before use as copper goes hard, even new ones in storage. Hang them on a bit of wire, heat them up to redness with a gas torch and then dunk them in a handy tub of cold water. Works for me!
If all faces are clean and flat there is no reason why they should leak.
I have a similar problem with a small leak from the banjo fitting on the side of the block I have to address. These responses will be helpful for me as well.
