Default S type fuse box

Hi does anyone know where to locate the fuse box on a 1966 Jaguar S type?

open the center hinged panel by removing two thumb bolts at the top of the panel. But first pull the Center Tray out, then lower the panel. The fuse boxes are located on the top of inner firewall, clearly visible.

Behind the centre gauge panel held by 2 thumb screws at the top corners. Undo screws and panel flaps downward. Remember fuses are 1 second British blow standard. If using modern glass carry current fuses halve the value. (e.g. horns say 50 Amps with modern glass fuses make that 25). Remember to remove the tray table prior to doing this or you will damage things,

the S type dash is three sections, one has the speedometer and tachometer, one has the glovebox. and the one in the center is hinged and opens down. There is a pull out tray under the center panel as well.

Thanks Jose that clarifies location for me. The problem I’ve had is that the engine just stopped while driving. I’ve since changed fuel pumps, battery, and stripped down distributor, but there is still no spark and engine won’t start. Mechanic will look at fuses tomorrow but I’m still at a loss as to what problem is.

the S type has two fuel tanks, and two fuel pumps. There is a switch in the row of switches at the center panel to switch tanks. Make sure both tanks have fuel.

Assuming everything is as it left the factory, neither the ignition nor the fuel pumps are fused. They are powered directly off the ignition switch.

That being said, many of the connections are simple spade connectors, it's possible a wire has come off a terminal and simply needs to be pushed back into place. You'll need to open the center panel with the small gauges are described above to see the wires.

Close up view of the fuse panel situated behind the four gauges in the middle of the dash.

I had the push button start button wear out but there can be many culprits with the famous Lucas electric Since my car is a restomod, instead of taking all of the old looms and replacing them as they do make new ones, I opted to take the critical engine electricals and use a modern fuse panel mounted on the passenger side. If you are restoring the car you might think about replacing the factory wiring looms but that can be a lot of time & effort but would be nice as that stuff is so old? Although my car still uses a lot of the factory fuse panel and everything is still original and works.
