Default Sheet metal interchangeability

I know there are a lot of differences between the MK2 and the S-type, but are they dimensionally different?

The reason I ask is that I like the front half of the S-type better, and the back half of the MK2 better... and I found a cheap donor S-type (no title, engine, etc, just a shell). I'm still searching for a MK2, but this seems like a good opportunity if the parts interchange.

The back halves are completely different, doors are the same size, but catches are different, wings are similar, but indicators are different, S-Type has IRS, Mk2 has leaf springs, chrome window surrounds are different etc. so an S Type shell is not a huge amount of use if you want to build a Mk2.

The rear end is longer, window frames are taller although the door skins are the same, dimensionally they are pretty much the same from the C post forward with the exception of the roof height (see comment re window frames ) so from the waistline down and C post forward they are pretty much similar dimensions

Thanks! I wasn't thinking about building an MK2 from an S, but rather swapping the front fenders/wings from the S onto a MK2

I'm pretty sure the front wings would swap, but that's no mean feat doing that job.

Unless rust is an issue, you would be better cutting the front off and grafting that in as far as the amount of work is concerned. If you look at Martin Robey, you will see they do a repair section for the front wing, that would be the bit I would look at grafting on if you want the s-type front end.

The doors are the same, but with different shut faces to take the different latches. The S-type used a later latch mechanism, supposedly improved over the Mark 2. Chrome door frames are different, interior trim is different, seats are different. At the front the wings will swap, as will the hood, (UK=bonnet), as the fixing points are identical. Roof pressing is different as is the whole of the rear of the car. The 240 and 340 versions of the Mark 2 used the same front bumpers as the S-type.

I have the two wing repair panels that I didn't use. MRK012RH/LH is the SNG part #. These are $180 each. I'd like that for the pair.
