Starting Carb Flooding
Hello new to the forum - I am in the process of resurrecting a 1960 Mark 2 3.8 thats been sitting for many years for a friend
I just finished rebuilding the HD6's and all seems well but the starting carb continues to stump me - after now fitting the proper 3 gaskets below at the attachment point with no leaks - fuel is rising out of the air passages and spilling over when pump is on. Seems to be the float height should control the amount of fuel in there - float height checks out fine -- what am I missing? -- all responses much appreciated

If the float chamber is not "breathing", then positive pressure buildup will not allow the float to do its job.
It sounds as if the float bowl chamber is not "breathing" which is via the overflow pipe.
Have you fitted the correct fibre washers to the breather pipe. They have cutouts allowing air movement from the top of the float chamber to the pipes.
Also check that the overflow pipe is not blocked by some mud critter making their home in it. (That is common in my part of the world).
