I purchased four doors from a Type S Jaguar 1968 to install in my 340..
I have to adapt the locking systems on each door.
Do you have any experience on this job??

I think that i will place one door this week end for test purposes.
I will see if it fits and also i will check the gap between door and body.
After that dubble check, i have to modify the door to install tle MK2 locking system and that's why i am asking on the forum if somebody has already done this job in the past.
yes, I have never heard of anyone fitting S type doors in a MK-2 body, so you have the first shot at it.
If they fit, then you have solved a 50 year old question.
and if they fit, why not just use the S type door locks?? If anything has to be changed,
it would have to be the MK-2 door jamb Catch, and I think they are the same in both cars.
I do not have Type S locks and then i can't check if they fit.!!
They are some other differences between the doors that i have to check before cutting, welding and modifying the S type doors.
I did this in the 80s when I restored a Mark 2. I got a full set of S-type doors brand-new from a friend. The latch on the door is different, so I took the doors to Martin Robey together with the old doors, and they modified the new doors so the Mark 2 latches would fit. This way no changes are needed to the door pillars. The doors fitted very well except for a larger gap at the bottom edge.
Martin Robey did a very good job as it was impossible to see the change when I got the doors back, they looked just like a Mark 2 door, no visible weld marks or anything.
There is a fibrous pad on the inside of the doors (S-type and Mark 2) to prevent an inner component from contacting the door skin. I soaked this in anti-rust fluid, as water soaking into these pads causes rusting which eventually breaks through the door skin. I also put anti-drum pads on the inner side of the door skins and soaked the whole inside with anti-rust fluid.

Hmm reading the piece on the Carolina club I wonder about the height of the doors? The 'B' pillar being 1" shorter?
It may be, but the door itself is the same. The difference is taken up with the different window frames that are bolted onto the doors. SO you end up with S-type doors with your old Mark 2 window frames bolted onto them. Believe me, it worked for me.

Sorry Philippo, it was all done in the 80s and I don't have any photos. However, I do have a photo of me with the car in 1988, which will show you how well the S-type doors fitted my car. Its on a CD and this lap-top doesn't have a drive, so I'll have to use our Lenovo upstairs. I'll look the disc out and put a photo up here, but not today.
Remember, you have to transfer the chrome window frames of your Mark 2 onto the S-type doors as the S-type ones will probably be the wrong profile. YOu also might have a slightly larger gap along the bottom edge, but for me this didn't matter much as I had brand new doors needing no work apart from prep and painting. I didn't do the conversion work so I can't tell you how to do it, but I think you need to cut out the door shut metal where the latches are secured on your Mark 2 doors and then transfer across. Obviously you need to cut out some metal from the S-type doors to take the Mark 2 metal, and if it were me, I'd engage an experienced car body man with a good reputation. When I look at what is done in the US to customise cars, you are clearly not short of expertise in this sort of thing.
Here's a photo of my Mark 2 taken in 1988 just before I sold it. It is not longer shown as UK registered, and I think it went to Japan. Door metal is modified S-type, with my old window frames on, (they were rechromed at Jaguar !!). Door latch fixing on the door shut face modified to take Mark 2 latches. The window seals were new parts with a chrome piece that took a rubber seal and on the last cars were common to S-type and Mark 2.The later seals close off the outside gap between door glass and door frame. The earlier ones just let the water in and the doors rotted as we all know. Actually, I just remembered I have a set of photos taken in the Hampshire village of Kingsclere by a friend with a very up-market camera.I think I'll get them professionally scanned and then I'll post them up.
When I finally got the car on the road after seven long years, it was like driving a new car. I wish I had that car now, but life goes on and we wanted a family, so somebody is no doubt enjoying it.

You are absolutely right,, the S-type doors fits perfectly on my 340.
I have done a trial with the rear right door and the gaps are perfect.
This door has been hit bu a forklift and i am repairing it..No rust at all on the four doors i purchased.
Of course, the latches doesn't fit and i have to modify the 4 doors.
HI, I was forgotten to show the S-Type door latch position wich is completely different of the MK2 .
I have to cut out the metal part i need from my original ddor and weld it on the S-Type doors...What a nightmare!!!
