That *looks* like a brake line. On my S, the main line runs across the firewall and around to the booster. I couldnt say why its attached to the motor..... Could it be for a mechanical oil pressure gauge? It appears to go over by the oil filter/ pump area.....

It's the hydraulic line to the clutch.

Yes. Hard line from the clutch slave up the bell housing and up the back of the engine to the bracket in the picture. A flex line runs from that to another hard line that connects on the firewall. Hard line from there to the clutch master.

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#.../assembly/2309

See items 22, 23, 26 and assorted fittings in the diagram of clutch operating components in the link. At first, it may be a bit surprising finding these pipes at the back of the cylinder head, but the arrangement makes a lot of sense.

so the good news (for a change) is this entire line is hanging on in my engine bay - waiting for an engine to clamp to - and now i hava a clamp

Some bad news - took the car for a AZ MVD Level 1 inspection - 1st step to getting a Title in AZ.... valued the car at $104,400 !!! so i cant afford to get a surety bond unless i sell a kidney or win the lotto.

I'd be tempted to offer the car to the valuer with a generous 5% discount.

Is it possible to get a valuation from JCNA or some other Jaguar Club in the US? It's a system that I know nothing about, but it seems crazy and, if I've understood correctly, something I've never met anywhere. The only time I've heard similar is when you import a car and for that the customs and excise in the UK and also the Netherlands are reasonably sympathetic and would probably charge very little for a Mk2.

Wait! $104,400 for a non running MK2!? What was this guy smoking? Even $10,000 would be too high like the appraiser certainly was!

AZ MVD only recognizes Kelly Blue Book or JD Power.. too old for KBB. I challenged it. I showed classic cars.com, Autotrader and eBay… they said rules are rules.. I’d have to challenge JD Power

https://www.jdpower.com/cars/1963/ja...edan-3-8-litre

These are retail for very well restored cars!

The one below is about as good as they come, but doesn't hit that level.

I'd be looking at the Bring a Trailer listings. That's what real buyers are prepared to pay.

AZ MVD does a 1.5 x multiple of the JD Power average… it’s daylight robbery.
