Hi
You should have a Lucas DR1 wiper motor I believe, here is a link to some info on that motor Motor
You can get new gears, brushes, armature etc from ebay, a guy called Steve Hunt specialises in that sort of stuff, he goes under shop name tankard03, or search Lucas DR1 on ebay and you should find him.

MK1 has DR1 wiper motors, the MK2 starts with the DR3. MK V11 has DR1, but the 140 has a different wipe of 90 deg and has to be regeared and cannot be use on MK1 or VII. I have 2 DR3s, one is 2 speed and second is 3 speed with a special park switch, both for MK2s only. I can only assume Lofty's username says he has a Mark 1.

Lofty, I'm responding to your PM here to post a picture of a S3 motor opened up. Removing the cable is simply a matter of removing the cover and then removing the drive arm which is attached via a circlip. I fit my S3 motor to an XJR wiring and control scheme, so I'm not sure what's needed to adapt it to the Mark 2 harness and switch. I'd think all of these motors would have a lead for high, low, park switch and ground, though the ground might come from any number of sources.

I had a harness and switch that came with a S3 motor upgrade kit I purchased for the Mark 2 - pretty sure I pitched these as something I'd never use, but will give a look this weekend. As you mention it included a replacement toggle switch for the Mark 2 along with a relay and harness - plus a wiring diagram for hooking up the S3 motor. I'll let you know if I find anything.
