XK Engine Locktabs
I'm in the process of rebuilding my XK engine and the crank main bearing caps have lock tabs which are not reusable (have been reused in the past), the last XK engine I built around 10 years ago didn't have these so I reassembled with thread lock.
Does anyone know whether these are necessary and if so where I can get some in the UK?
David Manners and SNG Barratt sell lock tab kits but this only covers the timming chain and oil pump by the looks of it.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi,
I can confirm they are included in the locktab set from SNG, the original washer part number from the parts book is C28082, this is supplied by SNG as a standard washer, but you can get the individual lockwasher from DM Manners part No C28082*, they are fitted on Centre, Front and Rear and Intermediate according to the parts book which shows 12 required, I got 13 in the locktab set, so I'm not sure which if caps don't have them on, I will look at my 3.4 engine and see if that reminds me it may be that the oil pipe stops them being fitted on one of the caps ! Hope this helps

Interestingly, I checked through my pictures of the original engine before rebuild and it didn't have locktabs on the caps, on doing a little more research, I found that they were superseded by plain washers.
This was found in a service bulletin from Jaguar source Terry's Jags website.
Thought that may be of some interest.
