Default engine question

Hi: I have been a member for a while and enjoy reading all your info and comments. I now have a problem of my own. I have a 1990 XJS convertible with 45k. I drive about 500 miles a year. This past winter your local friendly squirrel decided to build a home on top of the engine. I caught the problem quickly and cleaned out the mess. (2 hours with a vacuum). Anyway, I replaced 3 plug wires. Engine runs great. My problem is another wire had been chewed and I can't find it in a jaguar parts book. The wire runs from the passenger side air cleaner (2 prongs clips on to the top of the filter housing) and the wire runs up to the top of the distributor cap and screws into a cable that runs to the fire wall. It seems an easy fix if I can figure out what to buy. The only info I found is a paper tag that says "ignition harness". I have a genuine Jaguar XJS parts catalog and it does not list any "ignition harness". Any help with this will be much appreciated. Cheers, Don

Don,

I've copied this question from your Intro to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

For future reference, If not driving for a while place fabric softener sheets on the motor and such. Rodents hate it.

Unused sheets.

Not sure I am correct but while you are at it, replace all the wire to the coil plugs with higher temp wiring. For your problem, just splice and drive.

You do not say which model and engine you have. If it is a V12, then the plug on the LHS (US driver's side) air intake trumpet is the air temp sensor and the wire goes to the ECU. The chewed bit can just be cut out and a new piece spliced in. It only carries 5 volts and a very low amperage.
