Default 02 xkr Need more advice

Thanks again to all who have chimed in on my recents posts regaring my "new" XKR..... But wait !!! I'll double the offer !!!
After digging some, I've determined that my 02 was rolled off the line in September of 01 number A25845 or the 1649th xkr made for model year 02. The engine was completed on September 7th of 01 which would indicate that it has the second generation timing chains that are "supposed" to last longer ?? BTW my 02 has just under 50k miles. So now what should I be looking forward as must dos ??? I will be doing the 50k service myself. Know I need to buy a code reader as recommended: Actron CP9185 going for $99 on Amazon.. Do I need any other special wires ??? BTW, I was able to somewhat easily find and copy the engine number by looking up into the engine from underneath between the steering rack and some other pipes where I could see the first 5 or 6 numbers. Then I used the small workshop mirror (shown on the attached photo) to copy the last 3 or 4 numbers. Forgot where I bought the mirror but it has come in handy over the years and has its own light.
Also, silly me wants a more complete parts book than the 97 to 05 xk8 parts and schematics I downloaded in two parts consisting of 23 pages. Seems like there should be way more pages than that by I cannot seem to find a hard cover anywhere on line ??? BTW, one of the parts I am looking for, as shown on the photo, is the male latch / screw combination on the leather portion (right and left) that allows for the cover for the convertible top when it is down to be attached (with the female latch) fitted to the cover....
I'm sure there will be more questions.... On the other hand, before long I will be providing answers as I have done and continue to do on the XJS Forum.
Thanks for indulging this old guy !!!!

Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of Jaguar!

Your engine, based on your serial number had the third generation chain tensioners but not the later 'silent' chains introduce in Feb 2002. You should be good on that item.

SNG Barretts, a forum sponsor has an on line catalog as well as a wonderful paper book with all the diagrams and parts numbers for free.

There is a long discussion on code readers here:

My recommendation, if you have an Android smart phone is to get the TORQUE app (free) and an EM327 bluetooth converter (>$20). It will do everything your $100 scanner will and much more. Upgrade the app for $1.50 which will do even more.

I would recommend over this summer you replace all fluids, coolant, brake, SC oil, power steering, transmission and filter and eventually differential,. This provides you a base line these are all potentially 14 years old and ha e lost thier properties, then as you drive you will find more things to focus on.

+1 on getting SNG Barratt's parts catalog!!

as for the latch pin for the tonneau cover - you can always try a marina as these are also used on boats
