Default Alloy Backed Timing Chain Guide Rails

Dear Sirs,

Is it possible to install later generation type alloy back timing chain guides in early model v8 ? Mine was done a few years ago and they changed the tensioners with alloy type but the guide rails are stil plastic ones.

Regards

I do know what you mean but, all the chains ride on some sort of plastic. You can't have metal chains riding on raw aluminum even with oil between them. What is your primary concern with what has already been replaced?

The later type alloy backed guides will fit the earlier engines - my understanding is that they are more robust. Presumably that's why Jaguar changed to the later design.

The early production Primary Chain guides and tensioners are less prone to catastrophic failure than the Secondary Chain Tensioners but require removal of the Front Cover (a quite involved job).
