I always wanted a Jag, but I was more into the coupes from the 90s, not the convertibles. But now I am the somewhat proud owner of a 2002 convertible.
The car is relatively in decent condition. I need to have mechanic go over the car to see how she sits. The exterior paint is good. The convertible roof is fine. It just needs a treatment. It just got some new tires but the original rims are dinged and scratched up.
The interior though, both front seats new covers. The arm rest on the center console is shot. Even the arm rests in door panels probably need to be recovered.
It needs new mats and probably new carpet. Luckily the dash is fine.
So I have a small project car. Which I am looking forward to working on and restoring to its original glory.
Welcome and good luck with your project. These are the most rewarding cars to own but at times they can also drive you mad! You have come to the correct place for assistance, I would not be able to own and maintain my XK8 without this fourm.
Search eBay for replacement center consoles or there are several forum members parting out cars, check the marketplace adds or post your own want to buy in the marketplace.
Same for the rims.
Also a local upholstery shop would be able to assist with the console and door arm rests.
if you order the seat covers from top's online - they also provide the material to cover the center console. You can also order a replacement center console lid
Plenty of threads on rims - I went with Coventry Whitley's but sooo many to choose from it is mind boggling
Curious on seat covers as mine are showing age but serviceable, has anyone use the guys out of Miami area (I think) on ebay. $300 seams like a steal for new leather for the front.
When I got my car, both of the rims on the curb side had serious scrapes and road rash, as did one rim on my wife's VW. I had a guy come to the house and repair all three for $300. As long as they are not cracked or bent, any cosmetic damage can usually be repaired.

Tex - do you have a link to their site since I am in the market now - may as well look at all options
here are a few other companies offering replacement seat covers
I think I am going to go with TopsonLine for the seat covers, headliner and other interior trim parts. I will have a local upholstery company do the install. As much as I would like to do it myself, I would want to make sure it as perfect as possible. Ive read how difficult it can be.
I still cant find anyone with a rug for this car though. Mats are fairly easy to find though.
As for the rims, I might just bead these down and have them powder coated. I like this look...
There's a tutorial somewhere on the forum regarding how to recover the center console lid yourself. It's a relatively simple process. The key is to choose the right padding material under your new leather lid material so you get enough "fill" to smooth out the look of the leather while also getting enough padding for it to be comfortable if you choose to prop your elbow there. I went with some moderately thin foam packaging wrap underneath my wife's center console leather, using three layers if I remember correctly. Use the leather cover as your template to cut the foam wrap. I did this repair a little over four years ago and it has held up quite well. I was able to use the original leather console lid cover so this repair was virtually free for me....
