my name is Richard , I live in the San Francisco bay area and just bought a 1969 etype v6 , 4.2 liter engine. I am new to jaguar and interested in swapping the v6 for a v12 engine as part of the restoration. I still need to go the jaguar dealer/service dept and introduce myself.

Hi Richard! I have a couple points, and please don't take them the wrong way, these are meant seriously.
First, if you wanted a V12, why didn't you buy one to restore? I suspect swapping a 12 into a 6 cylinder car would be way more work than restoring a 12 in the first place.
Second, the E Type has a straight 6, not a V6, and I think your posts are confusing people, resulting in the lack of response.
Finally, I'm jealous what ever way you go with this project, I'd love to have one.

thank you for the reply and sorry for my mistake regarding the "v" engine type versus the straight engine block. the reason I got this car is because of a family deal and really did not cost me much. also did not see very many etype 12 cylinder cars available for sale.

Welcome to the forum Richard,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The value in a E-Type lies in originality and history. You are setting yourself an interesting technical challenge but one which will seriously devalue the finished vehicle.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the forum Richard. The 4.2 is a great engine,I drove over 1200 miles last weekend and loved every mile of it,wouldn't consider swapping it for anything else. I do love the sound of a V12 though!
